19th-Century Continental Silver Box

A remarkable 19th-century Continental silver box featuring a repoussé kitchen scene—three figures animatedly preparing a feast beside a glowing hearth. Each detail, from the hanging utensils to the folds of the aprons, is meticulously sculpted, creating a sense of depth and movement rare in small silverwork.

The interior reveals a warm gilded lining, adding a quiet touch of luxury, and the sides are framed with delicate floral and garland motifs.

This box likely originated in Germany or the Low Countries, circa 1880, where narrative repoussé scenes were popular among silversmiths who drew inspiration from Dutch genre painting.
