Antique Cardeilhac French Sterling Silver Rococo Vanity Box (c. 1880s)

A rare 19th-century sterling silver treasure by Cardeilhac, one of Paris’s most celebrated silversmiths — later absorbed by Christofle. This miniature Rococo box feels alive with motion: the swirling foliage, shell motifs, and softly raised scrolls seem to breathe with light. Its compact form, only 4 cm wide yet heavy in presence, once held a woman’s precious powder or scent — a secret token of vanity and grace.

Hand-engraved initials flow like lace on the base, carrying the intimacy of a bygone Parisian boudoir. The silver has aged into a warm patina, soft and golden around the curves, revealing both its authenticity and its beauty. The mark “CARDEILHAC” confirms its noble origin, an echo of the Maison’s reputation for sensual craftsmanship and refined proportion.
