1980's Massive Avant-Garde Red and Wood Statement Necklace

Unmarked striking runway postmodern necklace in the Memphis Milano style, combining bold geometry with unexpected materials. The piece features lacquered red resin segments accented with rhinestones, joined to a large carved wood pendant in stylized heart like form. The pendant is further set with a pear-shaped faceted red glass stone and embellished with a vertical band of rhinestones. Additional rhinestones accent the red resin side panels, and the necklace is completed with a beaded chain and adjustable clasp.

That unusual material contrast is what makes it collectible. The design exemplifies the avant-garde jewelry movement of the 1980s, where contrasts of natural and synthetic, matte and gloss, simplicity and ornament were explored as wearable art.
