1930s Massive Antique Yemeni Tribal Silver Choker Necklace

An extraordinary handcrafted Yemeni necklace from the 1920s–1930s, originating from the Red Sea plains of the Tihama region, near the small town of Mansouriyeh. This elaborate design reflects the heritage of the Hadhrami and Tihama tribes, traditionally worn by women as a symbol of wealth and protection. This is a rare pair. 

The necklace is composed of mixed metals, primarily low-grade silver with brass accents and detailed granulation work typical of early Yemeni silversmithing. It features handmade beads, repoussé amulet boxes (hirz), and dangling heart and coin charms that create a delicate, rhythmic sound when worn. The closure is a woven natural fiber cord, retaining its authentic vintage structure.

Each component is handcrafted — no two are identical — and the patina shows its age beautifully.
